The Digital Coalition is implementing the Digital Allowance project for pupils from Ukraine – Ukrainian pupil. The main objective of the project is to support pupils of Ukrainian descent who arrived in Slovakia as a result of the war conflict. As with the Digital Pupil project, the Ukrainian pupil is entitled to receive a 350-euro allowance for the purchase of new digital technology.
Pupils with the status of temporary refuge aged 6-18 with full school attendance are entitled to the allowance. Pupils who have failed to enrol in a suitable school are also eligible and have the necessary confirmation. In this case, school attendance needs to be replaced by additional testing of the level of language skills and digital skills.
Based on input from Slovak universities, organisations focusing on working with the Ukrainian community, as well as the Ukrainian community as a whole, Ukrainian pupils under the age of 18 were included in the eligible project groups in Slovakia. “The aim is to provide a contribution to all pupils and students who have left their homes in Ukraine as a result of the war conflict and have decided to integrate into the education system in Slovakia,” said President of the Digital Coalition (DK), Mário Lelovský.
Registration at www.ukrajinskyziak.sk is a condition for receiving a contribution. This is open until 31 October 2023. Pupils whose entitlement will be confirmed in the national registers will receive a validation code for the application of the contribution from the Digital Coalition via an SMS message. This is possible in a wide network of digital sellers across Slovakia until 30 November 2023. “The allowance for Ukrainian pupils is at the same level as for Slovak pupils. At the same time, the Ukrainian pupil project is fully funded by the European Union,” explains the President of DK.
