Digitalisation in Europe

The new interactive publication Digital in Europe provides insights into the evolving digital environment across Europe. It paints a picture of how digitalisation is transforming our lives and shaping our future. The publication is divided into three sections: digital transformation, people online and businesses online. The publication brings together all the headline indicators published in 2021 and 2022.  Technological change requires people and businesses to acquire new digital skills and competences. While almost 90 % of people in the EU use the internet at least once a week, in 2021 only 54 % of Europeans had basic or higher basic digital skills. Some 55 % of Slovak and Slovaks had basic digital skills. In 2021, around 180000 students studied ICT disciplines in the EU, representing 4 % of all graduates. In 2022, more than 9 million people in the EU worked as ICT specialists, representing almost 5 % of the EU workforce. More information:Digitalisation in Europe (europa.eu)
